Job Title: Strategic Development Manager

 Remuneration: FTE £30,940 pro rata at 21 hours per week, maternity cover for 6 months with potential for extension

Responsible to: Management Committee

Main duties of the role:

  • Review of all funding streams available to charities in identifying relevant opportunities to enhance and increase our service delivery across London and the UK.
  • Working alongside colleagues, take the lead in researching and delivering a high level fundraising strategy and identifying potential new projects and social enterprise opportunities to achieve Kanlungan’s strategic aims.
  • Act on a comprehensive awareness of current priorities and strategic needs ensuring bid proposals are appropriate and fully meet the funding criteria.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with government agencies and build network with CVS organisations and work strategically to improve service provision for the community
  • Raise the profile of the organisation in the public arena and carry out policy work, press and media work appropriate to the environment in which the organisation operates.
  • Together with other Programme Managers, develop different organisational policies and infrastructure, and manage funding and resources of the organisation.
  • Develop relationships with members organisations and potential partners, with a view to collaborating on opportunities to work together. Where funding possibilities arise, to lead on Kanlungan’s participation in joint bids.
  • Upon notification of successful bids, work with the Programme Managers – to draft job and work descriptions, set up recruitment process, design and implement the new work and budget monitoring and oversight.
  • Provide leadership and line management to maintain current services and activities with an immediate priority of working with income generation to ensure the continuation and further development of existing and future service delivery.
  • Work alongside Programme Managers and Management Committee to raise the profile of Kanlungan, ensuring the charity has a presence and a voice at all relevant events and sector activities – including in relation to strategy and policy.
  • Where relevant provide staff supervision within your team and co-manage the organisation with other Programme managers.
  • Support and administer the Management Committee processes
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as requested by members of the Management Committee

 PERSON SPECIFICATION

  1.  Demonstrable experience of creating and implementing strategy and undertaking development work
  2.  Understanding and experience of developing policies, HR procedures and infrastructure of a charity organisation.
  3.  Experience of bid development including writing of proposals, costing service models and monitoring and evaluation system. .
  4. Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
  5. Experience of building relationships with service partners, ensuring a shared commitment to excellence and meeting agreed outcomes.
  6. Confidence and ability to present to a range of audiences in appropriate and accessible formats.
  7. Experience of networking, securing contracts and funding in community services and campaigns
  8. Experience of project management, design of services and implementation.
  9. Experience of motivating, supporting and managing staff and/or volunteers, including conflict resolution and performance management
  10. Demonstrable experience of working directly with individuals from diverse communities using services in order to ensure their needs inform services
  11. Able to communicate in fluent English, desirable if able to understand and speak Filipino.
