Term of Contract: 7 hours or 1 day/week (2 years) fixed term contract, 

Gross Salary: £5,460 per annum (£105/week) gross plus pension contribution

About the Post: 

The Community Coordinators will serve as outreach staff for the Vietnamese community to make contact with women in these communities and provide language support in the mental health support groups and information sessions. The Community Coordinator will work with Kanlungan’s project coordinator who will lead, implement and monitor the mental health support programme for Filipino, Indonesian and Vietnamese women who experienced gender-based violence in London. They will also work closely with Southeast and East Asian Centre (SEEAC), a member-organisation of Kanlungan, that provides community support to southeast and east Asian migrants.

Tasks:

  1. To conduct community visits and establish/strengthen networks with organisations, groups, leaders and individual members of Vietnamese community; 
  2. To assist with the survey design and translation, distribute and promote the survey on baseline data and impact evaluation of the project;
  3. To coordinate and support the facilitation of community consultations, and provide language interpretation where necessary; and
  4. To translate information materials and/or group counselling sessions into Vietnamese languages. 

Person Specification: 

  • Has access to network with Vietnamese communities in London, an understanding of the community contexts, and/or member of relevant organisations;
  • Has the ability to conduct community visits and further networking with other East and Southeast Asian communities;
  • Experience and skills in translation and interpretation between English and Vietnamese languages; 
  • Able to work on flexible hours

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a non-profit, charity, or community environment, in either paid or voluntary capacity;
  • Experience working with vulnerable/marginalised members of communities especially women and young children; 
  • Experience in facilitating community baseline surveys and impact evaluation;
  • Lived experience of migration and an understanding about issues faced by migrant and refugee communities
